Because Dalton was there and Caitlyn was doing better, Lydia left earlier. She reached the bar before McKing and sat down at her usual table. The bar was still filling up. The bartender came and delivered Lydia’s drink. There was also a folded piece of paper along with it. The bartender went back to his position behind the bar. Lydia looked at the writing on the piece of paper before tucking it away.

Lydia was on to her second drink when McKing arrived and made his way to the table where Lydia was sitting. He stopped a server and ordered his beer.

“You’re early,” McKing said once the server had moved on.

“I wasn’t needed at home,” Lydia replied, “Dalton got custody and everything is fine for the moment.”

“Good,” McKing said.

“You have an information broker?” Lydia asked.

“Yes,” McKing’s tone was hesitant.

“Do you think you get them to look up Megan Porter, currently Megan Sumeton?” Lydia asked.

“What are you hoping to find?” McKing asked.

“Anything that will make her back off,” Lydia answered.

“Why don’t you ask Dalton about her?” McKing asked.

“He quit paying attention to her a few years ago,” Lydia answered, “And he never bothered to find out much of her history before they married. He felt it rude to check out someone and that you should wait for them to talk to you.”

“Well, he isn’t wrong,” McKing said, “But he reached the wrong conclusion about it. If they don’t tell you anything, don’t marry them. Though if he quit paying attention to her, I don’t blame her for finding herself meeting those needs outside the relationship.”

“I don’t claim his response to the situation was a good one, but his attention drifted to work about the time she was getting into veganism and stuff about vibes,” Lydia said, “She seemed normal when they married and when Caitlyn was born, but then she turned into one of those freaky people who has decided the best way to live and if you don’t agree with her than you are wrong about everything. She got into a fight with her boytoy because he had beer to drink one night.”

“I can ask,” McKing said, “But don’t expect much.”

“I don’t,” Lydia said, “I’m just trying what I know.”

“I finally heard back from my sources on Justin,” McKing said, “His story checks out on the surface, but once you get a couple layers deeper not so much. I can’t confirm he is an undercover cop, but there are some things suggesting such. I have someone else I can suggest for the Friday job.”

“You got the rest of the information for the Friday job?” Lydia asked.

“Yeah,” McKing took some paper out of his pocket and slid them across the table to her, “All the information on the building that I can get.”

Lydia took the papers and looked through them. The server brought McKing’s beer and Lydia’s third drink. Finally, Lydia folded the papers up and put them into her pocket.

“Okay,” Lydia said, “Two necessary, three best. Call Justin and get him for the Friday job.
